Acapulco is Mexico’s largest and dazzling tourist attraction that offers its visitors hospitality, emotion, fun and the Mexican authenticity that distinguishes it. Is on the Pacific coast, in the state of Guerrero. It is connected to Mexico City, 385 km (239 mi) north by the Autopista del Sol and the Federal Highway 95.

La Quebrada

La Quebrada

The sensational Quebrada, is the famous place where visitors can see the divers leaping from a height of 35 m (114 feet) into the waves of the Pacific in a pit about 11 feet deep. Since 1934 this has been one of the most important attractions in Mexico. It daily offers five shows, which include four evening events in which the actors are divers with torches.

 

Puerto Marques

Puerto Marques

A small bay (1 km – 0.6 mi. long), surrounded by lush vegetation, and natural habitat of various animal species such as herons, gulls, fish and crocodiles, among other tropical birds. Its waves are peaceful and ideal for water sports. The seawaves are mild, ideal for water sports.

 

Coyuca Lagoon (Pie de la Cuesta)

This fresh water lagoon is 17 km (10 mi) long and 8 km (5 mi) wide and its depth varies between 2.5 and 18 meters (8.2 to 59 feet). The lagoon is home to 14 species of fish, as well as to varied tropical vegetation and the typical wildlife of the region. Spectacular sunsets can be admired here.

 

Botanical Garden

It is located in an area of six-hectares within the deciduous rainforest. This beautiful site has a large amount of native plants in the region, and its main objective is to preserve biodiversity and conserve natural flora and fauna of the area. This shows visitors a little wildlife that abounds in this extraordinary site in addition to having one of the best panoramic views of Acapulco Bay. www.acapulcobotanico.org

Palma Sola

Palma Sola

This archaeological site has an area of 3.8 hectares (9.39 acres) dating back to the 800s BC to 750 AD. The site has a great cultural value, among other things, visitors can admire 18 petroglyphs representing human figures and ritual ceremonies related to agricultural cycles and astronomical events. These symbols were created by the Yopes, considered the earliest inhabitants of the area.

Roqueta island

Roqueta island

This small island served as a shelter for pirates who besieged the Nao from China. It is a protected natural area, with tropical fauna and flora. The journey to this island in boats equipped glass bottom lets appreciate colorful fish and the Virgin of Guadalupe, submerged in the background image only 7 m (23 ft).

Tres Palos Lagoon

Tres Palos Lagoon

The Lagoon measures approximately 15 km (9 mi) long by 6 km (3 mi) wide. Herons, pelicans, diving ducks and seagulls, as well as luxuriant vegetation can be admired here. Local inhabitants offer tours to the Isla de los Pajaros and the enormous mangroves of the region, also hosts a wide variety of fish.

Gastronomy

Acapulcan cuisine includes a rich variety of fish and shellfish. Some traditional dishes are ceviche (marinated fish), cocktails like the Vuelve a la Vida (Back to Life) – and also the original dish of the harbour: a la Talla fish. For ist part, Guerreran cuisine has a large variety of dishes, such as relleno, morisqueta, Chilapa chalupitas, fish tamales, and white or green pozole.
