Los Cabos

General information

One of Mexico’s most popular tourist destinations, thanks to its combination of a beautiful coastline and outdoor activities such as surfing, scuba diving, kayaking and other more specialized activities as whale watching and swimming with sea lions. Los Cabos includes the towns of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, connected by a 33 km (20.5 mi) long scenic corridor. It boasts an important hotel infrastructure built on the best beaches in the area. They are located on the Baja California Sur peninsula, on the western side of Continental Mexico and south of California. The Sea of Cortez is on its Eastern coast and the Pacific Ocean lies on the western side.

San José del Cabo

San José del Cabo

A colorful colonial Mexican town whose origins date back to 1730. Its main attraction is its “Mijares Square” in front of the church of St. Joseph, a reminder of the Jesuit missionaries, where visitors can enjoy concerts, dances and handicraft sales. It is also an important commercial hub whose restaurants, small hotels, stores and art galleries enliven this beautiful place.

The old fishing village has become a beautiful tourist center with first-rate hotels, restaurants, retail stores and night clubs. It also has a port that receives cruise ships and yachts from around the world.

El Arco (The Arch) of Cabo San Lucas

A rocky formation formed from fractures caused by the San Andres Fault. Visitors will gaze in awe at the cliffs and vertical walls that end in a splendid natural arch. This area is inhabited by seal and sea lion colonies. It can be reached by motorboat from Cabo San Lucas.

Whale watching is one of the most popular activities in Baja California Sur. During the first three months of the year the gray whale comes from Alaska on a journey of thousands of kilometers in search of warm waters for mating and giving birth. Magdalena Bay is the closest point for watching the whales.
