Teotihuacan

General information

The State of Mexico has a privileged location in the centre of Mexico and is an incomparable vacation option that offers multiple entertainment opportunities for all tastes; the state can boast World Heritage sites, Magical Towns, Pueblos con Encanto (Charming Towns) and its attractions invite you to tour the entire state and share its wonderful attractions with its inhabitants. Visitors are also surprised by the beauty of its small mountain villages, the history of its cities, the indigenous culture that survives to this day, its pre-Hispanic splendour and the immense wealth of the Viceregal period that can be seen in the convents and museums throughout the territory. This is a holy city where men become gods; an enigmatic place, mythical site of the birth of the Moon and the Sun. Teotihuacan well deserves its title of World Heritage Site and stands as a splendid example of the greatness and geometric perfection of pre-Hispanic urban design. The Avenue of the Dead, palaces, temples, the pyramids of the Sun and the Moon and other majestic constructions make Teotihuacan the central icon of our archaeology; pride of the ancient, rich cultural heritage of the Estado de México, for the world. In the vicinity of the archaeological site, one can relive the splendour of the age of haciendas, now converted into comfortable hotels. From here, one can’t help but appreciate the very Mexican landscape of maguey and nopal cactuses stretching out to the horizon, interrupted only by the 16th-century aqueduct of a certain Franciscan architectural bent. In Acolman, the mystic convent silence of the colonial era invites visitors to turn corner after corner to discover the secrets of these constructions guarding the faith. In all, a trip that promises culture, history, fun... and magic. Located 45 km (27.96 mi) northeast of Mexico City and 119 km (73.94 mi) from the city of Toluca. Take the Mexico-Pachuca highway and the Piramides exit.
